Tier-II (Descriptive Paper)

Tier-II  Paper will be a descriptive Paper of 100 Marks in ‘Pen and Paper Mode.The duration of the paper would be for one hour (20 minutes compensatory time will also be provided to the candidates mentioned in Para 7 above). This paper has been introduced to assess the writing skills of the candidates which are necessary for Government jobs. The Paper would comprise writing of an Essay of 200-250 words and Letter/Application of approximately 150-200 words. The minimum qualifying marks in Tier-II would be 33 percent. The performance in Tier II would be included for preparing merit. The paper will have to be written either in Hindi or in English. The part paper was written in Hindi and Part in English will not be evaluated.

Tier-III Examination

Tier-III of the Examination would be the Skill Test/ Typing Test which would be of qualifying nature. Skill Test/ Typing Test would be in consonance with the provisions contained in para 12.2 and 12.3 given below. The final merit of the successful candidates would be determined on the basis of total score obtained by them in Tier-I and Tier-II.

What is PO?

bank probationary officer is the starting level appointment for bank personnel. They have one or two years of probation (on condition/can be removed anytime) period during which they are exposed to various banking functions like loans and advances, foreign exchange, credit rating, risk management, and marketing. Every banking institution has to recruit a probationary officer so their’s a large scope for young aspirants to become a bank PO.

Job Profile

Probationary Officer is a newly recruited officer in a bank. But in reality, there is no designation as Probationary Officer once candidates have joined the bank. The designation will be Assistant Manager but since the candidate will be on Probation for at least 2 years before being confirmed, therefore the term Probationary Officer is used.

While on probation, he is exposed to all the works carried out in the branch. He has to know the job of a peon because he’ll be the supervising authority for them. He’ll have to know the job of clerk because he’ll be verifying all the work done by them. He’ll have to know the job of a manager because that is what he is destined to be.

Please note that the eligibility criteria specified herein are the basic criteria for applying for the post. Candidates must necessarily produce the relevant documents in original and a photocopy in support of their identity and eligibility -pertaining to category, nationality, age, educational qualifications etc. as indicated in the online application form at the time of interview and any subsequent stage of the recruitment process as required by IBPS/ Participating Organisations.

1.Educational Qualification (As on 15.11.2017):
A Degree (Graduation) in any discipline from a University recognized by the Govt. of India or any equivalent qualification recognized as such by the Central Government.The candidate must possess valid Mark-sheet / Degree Certificate that he/ she is a graduate on the day he /she registers and indicate the percentage of marks obtained in Graduation while registering online.


A candidate must be one of the following:

Main Examination will consist of Objective Tests for 200 marks and Descriptive Test for 50 marks.
Both the Objective and Descriptive Tests will be online.
The Descriptive Test of 30 minutes duration with 50 marks will be a Test of English Language (Letter Writing & Essay).
